NBC’s Tim Russert: RIP

Tim Russert, host of "Meet the Press" and NBC News’ Washington bureau chief died today after suffering a sudden heart attack while prepping for Sunday's show. Mr. Russert was just 58. He leaves behind his wife and son.

I'm going to miss Tim Russert. He was a newscaster that I truly enjoyed watching. His love of the political process was evident in each broadcast. Although he covered the world of politics, Tim Russert never let his own take center stage. He believed that his job as moderator of "Meet the Press" was to "learn as much as you can about your guest’s positions and take the other side, and to do that in a persistent and civil way." And that's exactly what he did, often with a smile, and never with the feeling that it was personal. He didn't yell or belittle those he interviewed. He allowed them to respond and gave thought to their answers. He showed respect to members of all parties. It's too bad that more newscasters [let alone politicians] can't adopt that same outlook.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with Mr. Russert's family, friends and fans. May he rest in peace.

Just saw it on MSN, and it took a minute to register. My first thought was literally, "d**n, he couldn't have been that old."

I'll miss watching him take a chalkboard, and try to explain which candidate is winning on election night. ;D

He had an obvious passion for politics and didn't mind pointing out how absurd it could all be at times.

Yeah, just read the news.

His familiar face on TV will not be replaced easily.

VERY SAD. Too bad we won't have all his passion and thoughtful insight during the upcoming historical election. End of an era. I will miss him on Meet The Press and I feel so sorry for his family. What an irreplaceable loss for them.
RIP Tim. :'(

Still thinking about Tim Russert......what a great guy. He always worked hard, did what he believed in, loved his family, did the best that he could do, stayed honest and respectful, and helped others along the way. What a great human being....someone to admire and emulate, for sure. I will miss him tomorrow on Meet The Press and definitely during the election coverage this year and always. Someone like him makes us all want to be a better person ourselves. Now that's inspiration. RIP Tim.

That's very sad. He seemed like a very nice and down to earth guy. And it's interesting how he had many friends in both political parties. RIP Tim Russert.

Very sad. And especially right before Fathers Day...he loved his father and wrote books about him (and his father is still living). Also Tim had a son. This will be hard for them. Not to mention it will be hard on the rest of his family, the media and politics in general. RIP

This will be a hard Father's day for Big Russ and Luke. They (and the world) lost someone really special.
