Harvey Korman - RIP

For a period of time, Harvey Korman was a member of one of the funniest comedy ensembles on tv as part of The Carol Burnett Show. I, along with millions of other folks loved to tune in each week to see how Mr. Korman and the others were going to make us [and each other] laugh. In fact that was one of the joys of the show, seeing the cast members attempt to not crack up as they played out their scenes. Mr. Korman won four Emmys for his work on the show.

After leaving The Carol Burnett Show, Mr. Korman went on to make other guest appearances in movies and tv. Mel Brooks used Harvey Korman regularly because every time Mr. Korman appeared on screen he made things at the very least just a bit funnier. Here's a link to a classic bit with Mr. Korman from The Carol Burnett Show plus a photo tribute.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans.

Although The Carol Burnett Show was before my time, I know it was well regarded.

My exposure to him was through Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles, which still holds up with the best American comedies.

He always seemed to be lamthingying aristocrats and perhaps that's why he came across as pretentious to certain audiences. He aimed for sly and subtle humor and that went out of fashion like most loftier pursuits in comedy.

Well, now we have guys like Dane Cook.....ugh.

Rest in peace, Harvey.

I'm ashamed to say that I have not heard of this man before. But I'm already sure I'd admire him over most comedians/actors today.

You'd probably know him if you saw him in something.

He inspires an, "oh, that guy" reaction from people.

Blazing Saddles is hilarious, un-pc comedy. If you want sustained laughs, check it out. He has a small part in it, but memorable.

Yeah, most likely. I've been meaning to watch Blazing Saddles forever. This is more reason to watch it. I'm sure I'd enjoy it.
