Mannix

I haven't seen this show in probably close to 40 years, but when I was a kid, Mannix was pretty cool. From the looks of the trailer, he'd still be.

I enjoyed watching these on TVLand a few years back, and, coincidentally, I've been listening to the original soundtrack LP the last couple of nights.

Mike Connors was perfectly cast as the tough-but-compassionate P.I., even if his character wore the ugliest sportscoats in the history of TV.

The first season, where he worked for a huge, corporate investigations outfit headed by Joseph Campanella was the best. They got a lot of mileage out of the lone wolf eye struggling with the "big business" approach to investigating, and it was fresh. After he went independent in the second season, it became a more traditional private eye show. A good one, though.

Rumor has it that MANNIX will be coming to DVD later this year... I hope so!
