We've seen the set-up [or a variation] a million times... but when done well, it always works. My guess is that "Death Sentence" will be a popular rental even if it doesn't bust the box office.

These kind of revenge films often only work if you're able to emotionally put yourself in the protagonist's shoes. You have to really believe the situation he's in. I'm hoping Kevin Bacon can pull that off. I want to like it.
